Inspirations

Many different sources have formed the inspiration for Walpurgis. There are the European horror films of the late Sixties and early Seventies, specifically British movies like “The Devil Rides Out” (Terence Fisher, 1968) or “The Blood On Satan’s Claw” (Piers Haggard, 1971); French surreal horror like “Le Frisson des Vampires” (“The Shiver of the Vampires”, Jean Rollin, 1971), or Southern movies like the Italian “Suspiria” (Dario Argento, 1977) or the Spanish “La Noche de Walpurgis” (“Walpurgis Night”, León Klimovsky, 1971).

Also there is the influence of the psychedelic rock (of the 70’s and also more contemporary bands): Coven, Black Sabbath, Psychedelic Witchcraft, Lucifer, The Devil’s Blood, Jess and The Ancient Ones, Blood Ceremony, Alastor, etc.

There are additional influences from the connections of Surrealism and the Occult.

And, of course, the nightmares, dreams and uncertainty of the Unknown.
