Structure
On Wednesday afternoon to evening, we will go through briefings and workshops. That same evening we will also play through Fragments – of the War, of the village, both from Day and Night, so all participants can share fragments with everyone else, as the extended length allows.
From the moment you wake up on Thursday to beyond midnight of Saturday to Sunday, we will play seamless, Day and Night following each other. The larp ends with the first hours of Sunday, then post-larp workshops will be done and we celebrate after.
Each full day cycle for the larp resonates with a theme that influences the characters and events.
Thursday is for Freedom. Friday is for Love. Saturday is for Fire. Through all the larp, we burn in death and desire.
What do we do during Day play?
Day play is structured, for The State marks a schedule to follow. The mood for Day play is melancholia, grey longing and subtlety. A mostly calm, sedated journey through sanctioned Work and Joy. No overt display of sexuality or violence should appear. The activities for Day are Work (producing propaganda and lifeblood for The State, commitees, religious practice, light exercise, outside exploration) and Joy (walks, social gatherings, picnics, informed discussions, enjoying art and recreation).
What do we do during Night play?
Night play is crazy and unstructured. It is also wild party time. The mood for Night play is debauchery, wild desperation and weirdness. Overt dramatic actions, excess and irrationality are encouraged. Activities for Night: sex, sin and sorcery. Carousing, sensuality, blasphemies, drinking, gambling, drug dens, excess competitions, dances, ritualistic perversions, violence, nihilistic abandon, gathering of black lodges. As in June there is a lot of daylight, the schedule is designed to allow for waking up late to have more play balance between Day and Night.
